The Little Book of Green Nudges

SUSTAINABILITYCLIMATE ACTION

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

This toolkit helps university leaders and sustainability teams design simple, evidence-based nudges that make sustainable choices the easy, attractive option on campus, so they can build lasting environmentally friendly habits among students and staff.

Created by:
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in collaboration with the Behavioural Insights Team and GRID-Arendal (2020).

What’s inside:
The toolkit shares Busara’s internal playbook of tools and materials, including the AUDAS framework (Assess, Understand, Design, Act, Scale) covering the entire project lifecycle. It provides templates for qualitative and quantitative research in non-WEIRD contexts, guides to generating and prioritising intervention ideas, instructions for experimental design (e.g. running RCTs or A/B tests in the field), and tips for contextual adaptation and iteration. Essentially, it’s a comprehensive guide with methodologies, checklists, and case applications in global development.
